The Hotel Marine Building has a long history rich in traditional fact of Zanzibar. Its location is just opposite the famous house of Sultan Seyyid Bargash and near harbour gate. Originally the Government acquired it in 1926 from M/s Karimjee Jivanjee & Co. Ltd and used it to accommodate subordinate staff for harbour work schemes.
